When it comes to discussing important issues facing Missouri’s senior citizens, the bright lights of the television camera don’t faze Stacey Childs.
The CLAIM Regional Liaison appeared in front of thousands of viewers June 24 on “Spotlight on Senior Issues,” a senior-oriented talk show on KGCS in Joplin. The show also appeared on the YouTube channel for the Missouri Southern State University-owned channel.
Childs was one of several guests to appear on the show to discuss senior-oriented issues, such as finding nursing homes, selecting home health care services, choosing hospice care, how to avoid senior fraud, and of course, Medicare-related concerns.
Kelly Hook, a registered nurse and one of the hosts of “Spotlight on Senior Issues,” invited Childs to join her on the show. Hook, who owns and operates ComForCare Southwest in Carthage, recently became a CLAIM partner for the region.
In addition to her role as regional liaison, Childs also serves as a trainer for CLAIM volunteers in Southwest Missouri, helping train, recruit, and retain volunteers as well as coordinate outreach and education events throughout the region and helping Community Partner organizations with resources, technology and on-site enrollment centers.
